Using the methods of modern ecology and molecular biology, group of insect ecological adaptation determines the molecular basis involved in feeding behavior, virus transmission and environmental adaptation of phloem sucking insects, i.e. aphids and whiteflies. By targeting the key regulators in feeding activities, host preference and virus transmission behaviors of these phloem feeders, the process and pathway of phloem ingestion and virus transmission by insects are effectively eliminated, and accurate pest control methods based on manipulation of insect behaviors are expected to be developed.
